Jimmy Possum has scored a coup in making new furniture for the Victorian Premier's office.

Each time Premier Daniel Andrews and visitors take a seat in his office they will be supported by Bendigo-made manufacturing.

Jimmy Possum staff recently delivered the furniture that included dining table and chairs, sofas and occasional chairs.

According to CEO, Boris Bielert, the premier is very satisfied with his new furniture. "It all arrived safe and sound. The installation was a terrific opportunity for our delivery team and some of our Bendigo timber and upholstery team members, including apprentices, to meet with the Premier in his office."

Creative director Margot Spalding led the design team in colour and fabric selection, which was a challenge as the office has a distinctive green carpet.

"We wanted a regal look, but it had to blend with the existing carpet. Aqua was chosen in a swirl pattern with contrasting piping and other fabric in mix and match colours," Ms Spalding said. "The Premier has been to our factory on a couple of occasions, he is a big supporter of regional Victoria and local manufacturing. We were pleased to have been asked to make something for his office. From our understanding the office furniture hasn't been updated in years. So, it's nice to think that something from Bendigo will remain there for years."

Mr Bielert said it took joiners and upholsterers about 100 hours to craft and upholster the unique pieces in various fabrics, including a selection from Designers Guild, brown leather and recycled Victorian Ash timber.

Pieces commissioned were: Fletcher dining table made from recycled timber with 10 Munro chairs; two Willi wingback chairs, two Lopez carvers, two Kaija sofas and a recycled timber coffee table. Each has the signature Jimmy Possum label.

It has been a busy year for the brand, with Boris Bielert transitioning to the CEO leadership role after Margot Spalding opted to step aside to concentrate more on her love of design within the business. The manufacturer is looking to expand into the European and US markets, and build its online sales presence.
